I Can Do All Things Through Christ
Which Strengtheneth Me
(Philippians 4:13)
by Kaye Des'Ormeaux
I never knew how true these words were
until the day they were applied to me.
Oh I think back now to when my son arrived;
Impatiently joined our family of three.
Welcomed into our world with love;
Filling our hearts with pride.
Oh he was our smiling little boy
with his special impish side.
Oh but he was creative and wise.
He could do about anything.
I stood in awe of his many talents ...
Oh yes, just to hear him sing.
Another quality was his kind heart.
A loving man filled with good.
He had the gift of a great listener ...
He'd help you if he ever could.
When someone was in need,
he'd be there in a minute.
Those who saw his life progress ...
Saw nothing but love in it.
His heart was filled with tenderness.
His eyes filled with laughter.
He fills Heaven with delicious humor ...
And will from hereonafter.
For that dreadful day soon came
when I was forced to see.
My little bud touched by a disease;
Only God Strengtheneth me.
I had no way of knowing what to do.
No way of understanding why.
But my faith and love for my Christ ...
Oh was as always standing by.
I was torn into pieces with heartache.
But thankful his illness was brief.
When he crossed Heaven's shore
to never feel pain anymore,
he left me at home to feel the grief.
But I'll always be Ken's Mom.
He'll always be my child.
And on days when I am lonely ...
He sends me dandelions growing wild.
For you see, grief is as horrendous;
It's the worst that there can be.
But I can do all things through Christ
who Strengtheneth me.
